first, strong polisch , and than ,....... use the scanner.
Every " good " bodyshop is using that.

Having the body shop scan the paint is actually better than getting the paint code. The paint will have faded due to the environmental effects of where it has been stored / driven. That includes rain, sun, chemicals, etc. Using fresh paint, the color of the paint code will undoubtedly not match the rest of the car.
My experience with scanners matching the color has been excellent.

Alright it looks like we have a bodyshop that has such a scanner and is also specialised with old timer and will repaint the car - thanks for all the help on here, really appreciate this and so does my dad!
Another issue that came up though and I completely forgot about, he also needs a new front bumper. I checked ebay germany and ebay UK and I didnt find a thing. Any idea on where to get one?

Gentlemen, just so you know, I have all the standard paint codes used by Morgan from 1951 on. The older color codes used different formulations of paint and so I am unsure how valuable this is - I am not knowledgeable about that topic. Tcherek, you might want to share them with the Morgan Factory. I am only half joking. I asked for my 4/4 to be painted BMC Tweed Grey to match a Morris Cooper I have. The Morgan paint shop colour is nowhere near. It was quite a surprise at handover - luckily I liked the light sage green that I got instead.
