Whilst the manufacturers warranty might have expired after a set period, irrespective of the time the item has been out of use, wouldn't the Sale of Goods Act apply in some way in the UK? Although how one would enforce it, I don't know, Trading Standards or Small Claims court I suspect, both a lot of hassle.

So here's the result....

Morgan would not extend the warranty.
They blamed the dealer for the repair delays.
And of course the dealer was blaming Morgan for the delays.
It's a catch-22 where nobody takes responsibility and the customer loses.

Morgan insists you do everything through the dealer, then blames the dealer for any problems, and doesn't give you any other options. Nice!

So a 3 DAY old car was off the road for 2 MONTHS awaiting repairs and not only did I have the wait and no loaner car, but they won't even extend the the warranty for the time the car was down. What TERRIBLE avoidance of responsibility and customer service.

*note: Morgan did offer to extend the warranty for 4 weeks but NOT for the car as a whole, ONLY for parts that had previously been repaired under warranty.

Well, as others have written on here, the answer was that the manufacturer doesn't have to do anything.

You aren't happy, but that's life.

If your car was still off the road I'd have more sympathy, but you've had it since 2013.

Why are you still angry with Morgan? Won't the dealer cover you for a goodwill basis over the next two missing months..?

It's good that I bought my car in Portugal then.

Portuguese law - heavily influenced by DIRECTIVE 1999/44/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL - states this:

1. Consummer goods have a 24 month guarantee

2. This applies both to the car as a whole (from sale date) and for any parts sold to be fitted to it (from their own sale dates)

3. These periods of time are suspended while the "good" is waiting for repair.

Granted, all these apply to the seller (my dealer), but the seller has a right of redress agianst the producer, if he uses it or chooses not to do it is beyond me.

But, in my case, this is important. It means that:

a) All the many periods I had with my M3W "parked" waiting for exhausts (rough estimate ... 6 months) suspended the 24 month warranty period;

b) All the parts fitted into the car since I bought it have their 2 year warranty set from the date they were fitted.

c) The most important parts replaced so far are the new exhaust header and the new rear (steel) sprocket, both fitted a few months ago, so their warranty period will last until early 2018

d) The most important parts in my car's history are the exhausts, and for those the 2-year warranty period hasn't even started yet, the car is currently parked and waiting for new parts.

In Norway the guarantee is 5 years for objects meant to last at least that long. A valuable arrangement, buying a 3-wheeler.
Dealer also have to pay the freight if the vehicle cannot ble driven.

After all it is a new macine."

Guess what brand of washing machine all his mates bought after that. It cost the company a new machine but that was probably a fraction of what they spent on advertising and it brought them more sales per dollar than any advertising campaign.

You can't buy goodwill, you can only earn it.

I purchased Hammer drill/jackhammer recently, it was only a cheap brand (Ozito, you may see more of this in the UK when Bunnings opens) but it was warranted for 3 years. I have just completely gutted an ensuite bathroom cutting out concrete (Slab) and tiles with this drill. Near the end it gave up and lost its hammer. took it back to store, replaced with a new one on the spot and a new 3 year warranty to go with it. Cant ask for better service than that. I could have bought a better known brand for 3 times the price, that was only warranted for 12 months. thumbs spend

Sure do...

My brand new 2011 4/4 spent plenty of time off the road from day one. This was most frustrating, not to mention the inconvenience of constant dealer visits – sometimes as many as 3 attempts to fix the same problem. I confronted Morgan on the warranty time frame and mileage. As it had taken 6 months to get the car to the standard it should have been at delivery, I argued the warranty period should be extended by that time and what distance I had covered added to the mileage limit.
Morgan agreed.

Hi OZ, that's good news, but just to clarify, when you say "Morgan" you mean your dealer or factory decision?

A dealer warranty Mario. In this part of the world that was the only real outcome I suspect.
