I think they have missed a trick there.

BTW, I'll be in Round Rock TX in a couple of weeks!

They are painted at the factory...........and contrary to popular opinion, I don't live there...I just happen to have a rather pleasant "job" there!

I am finding paint on all the sharp edges is falling off, Very disappointing on what is meant to be a quality car. So much for the craftsman finish. I can do better with spray cans from Halfords.

Yes mine are the same I noticed rust on the edges last time I cleaned it. I did a temporary touch up until I can take them off and do them properly.

See attached.
The problem is the inner plates are tack welded on with short fillets. In fact some of the fillets are not even on the join!!!
There are huge gaps that dont allow for easy painting but do allow for water/salt ingress.
From what I could see there was no primer on the metalwork either.
Pic is of repair to support brackets. Beware do not over tighten or even tighten the two bolts

Ps
You can see the lower welds are rubbish but the ones one inside are even worse. How these passed any form of quality check is totaly beyond me.

Also - beware you dont over tighten the main three attachment bolts. They go into a threaded aluminium piece which in turn is bolted onto the chassis.
I must have had my Weetabix the day I assembled my sport mudguards - on one of these bolts I got that horrible slack feeling starting ( not me , the bolt ) and backed off quickly.

Is Weetabix a British brand name for Viagra?

Well, according to the Mail, yes they are as good as viagra although harder to swallow without a bowl of milk.

I agree about the paint on the mudguards. Sharp edges and water traps do not help.

Ha. About as far removed as you can get , its a breakfast cereal which has coined a phrase for when someone does something with unexpected vigour and deserves a bit of a rebuke , as in " Had our Weetabix , have we ? "

As I was saying before the circus came to town....if you get an extra set, you can have them properly welded, primed and painted.
