I'd go for one of the sat nav apps you can get for a smartphone. I was out in a van with a driver the other day and he had the Co-Pilot app on his. Had it for quite a few years and loves it. I was impressed. Cheaper than a separate device and saves taking two devices with you. Get a good car mount and you're done.
As for the power source if you haven't got one any decent auto-electrician should be able to fit a USB port.

Cheers You can easily fit one via your battery ...and let it be between the seats ! I did this on the 4/4 it worked a treat ...but add an in line fuse!

Co-Pilot is good. Adrian has a very neat and effective magnetic mount on his phone and I'm sure he'll be along soon to let us have the details!
Wiring in a usb socket would be easy off your map light connections.

After years of using basic Tom Tom, Garmin & the like, I have to say that I'm dead impressed with the traffic jam dodging abilities of the Garmin set up in my new Merc. They do also do stand alone systems with live traffic info. Well worth the extra IMHO.
