The front mudguards are the same as all the other painted parts on the car, I.e. quickly blown over with a single coat of paint that the parts shed like a second skin.
On a car of this cost they should be zinc plated and then powder coated.
So much for Morgan superb value for money: NOT.

I am another dissilusioned owner that after 3 years of ownership am getting more disappointed by the day.

I have a car now out of warranty that has been riddled with problems (which have been resloved) but the resale value of which has probably gone through the floor.

Even for its issues, I imagine that the Morgan actually holds it value tremendously well compared to your average make/model. Everything goes down in value when you drive it off the lot. Believe me, if the values had gone through the floor, I would have one in my parking space.

Having looked around this site for a while, I would have thought that a car that had the well recognised problems sorted would hold its value. I would be very wary of a low mileage, older, model that had all these joys ahead of it with no warranty cover.
Superficially, the low mileage would look a better deal, but I think not.

I've emailed a bit back and forth with someone at Morgan and they said that something could probably be worked out. I also inquired about the "pinstriping" graphics, since my intent is to go with a cream color. Having white pinstripes that are standard on the black fenders wouldn't make much sense.

They said that getting them in black shouldn't be an issue. I'm just a big fan of the way that 1000th three wheeler turned out, and would be aiming for something similar in a cream color.

They've been pretty responsive via email so that was quite nice.

My main concern would be getting those pinstripe graphics. I mean if I could get them just unapplied I could likely just go to a shop and have a set of fenders painted to color match. The idea of the stone chip protection on the underside seems quite nice as well.

The pinstripe graphics themselves are vinyl that's been lacquered over. So I wonder how that would hold up. Especially here in the Texas sun.

It's one thing to have a vinyl graphic on there and have it get all crusty and you have to peel it off and then buff the hell out of where it was. With it being actually under the top coat, if that tries to shrink, as vinyl does over the ages, you're talking a wrecked paintjob.

I think this is bang on the mark. The value of my 3 year old Honda CRV is down to not much more than 30% of its purchase price.

If someone offered me a fully sorted M3W for 10 grand I think I'd bite their hand off

"Value" is highly subjective.

A Morgan is a toy, it's purchase isn't exactly based on logic, and it;s not really used as a transportation device, so the more typical expectations of resale don't apply...at least for me. So, if something is entertaining, i'm willing to pay, and as long as that entertainment meets or exceeds my expectations, I'm Ok paying for that, too, and don't question the cost. It's not an investment in anything other than driving joy. Like a really good meal at a fine restaurant.

The part that concerns me in the "Value" equation is the quality of the car and it's components and their ability to hold up and allow me to fully realize the enjoyment factor. So, reliability issues, inadequate R&D, spotty dealer networks, long parts delays, service depts that are open only a few days a week...all this would (although I sure hope won't) interfere with the primary purpose of the purchase.

When I'm done with the M3W...if ever....What I get back on resale would be largely irrelevant b/c the true value was in the experience. If that experience is marred by poor *Any of the above* I'll be glad to be rid of it.

What I just don't get in today's interconnected world is why MMC would risk business by not being more responsive to customer concerns expressed here. My grocery getter is a Ford Fiesta...a $14k confection...and the Fiesta forum I participate on has a couple of Ford Customer Service reps lurking who are always available to intervene and either offer help on site, or can facilitate resolution of any issues on a dealer or corporate level, it's really great. Why a small, closely held organization like MMC wouldn't see the obvious value for them..if only for the benefit of advertising, frankly...but also b/c it's just good business to keep the cash paying customers happy and ensure good will...is really beyond me.

Well I can't speak for Morgan, but I can say in my brief time here I've found this community extremely responsive and helpful. I'm active on a few other car forums and when I've asked questions I get 10 answers explaining to me why I'm dumb for wanting to do something one way, before I finally get someone who's actually willing to answer the questions.

I'm a couple years off from purchasing my three wheeler, but the knowledge I'm gaining here is definitely helping me be more educated and prepared for my purchase.

Morgan lives in a unique space.....partly modern factory, partly living museum. They simply don't have people charged with monitoring forums and supporting customers. They expect dealers to do that, one or two monitor this place.

If you talk to dealers they feel that support from MMC COULD BE BETTER.

One example, not M3W related. The Ford Duratec motor used by MMC has a known issue with the crank position sensor. This is a $20 part and is known to fail. When it fails-the car will not run.
All Ford dealers carry them in stock, usually 3 to 5 of them. One dealer I know well had a car in with this problem, MMC said they had never heard of this problem. So they called the local Ford dealer and discovered the story. They now keep one in stock....!
