I'm eagerly awaiting the delivery of the first S5 Aero 8s and inevitable downpour to see if what must be a £90k car is actually watertight. Unfortunately part of the charm and charisma I seek from a car is neither snow or rain on the inside and a handbrake that actually works, but maybe I expect too much! I won't be rushing to put a deposit on an Aero until I know it's water tight.
I have yet to own a ragtop that is 100% watertight - certainly my wife's current Mercedes made Smart roadster is far from watertight so what chance have Morgan?. Nearest I have got was the Lotus. Audi TT roadster , Jag XK, Boxster, Mini Convertible etc and those are the ones I have personal experience of and were all watertight, it can be done if it's high enough up the priority list. But why bother if you can sell all you make even with leaks.

VW rear calipers now have the handbrake electrics integral with the caliper. Not something I favour but Morgan could have used an electronic handbrake. Obviously not a traditional solution.
When I first saw the central handbrake lever on the ARP4 I just couldn't understand why they chose to move away from the fly off, and I still don't understand that.
I doubt it was customer pressure because the normal trads have stayed the same.

According to the DVSA handbook any fault with the handbrake mechanism or handle that prevents it from working is an instant Prohibition. So don't get caught in a DVSA stop check or get involved in any incident that requires your vehicle to be examined.

OK it doesn't affect me personally as I'm not lucky enough to own an ARP4 so perhaps I shouldn't comment, but it seems to me that this seems to be getting out of hand and TM er's are falling out over it. What's the point?
It is an MMC cock up for sure, to release cars that are not fault free and it be such an obvious one to spot is disgraceful, BUT instead of having a go at them why not let the owners say their bit and then let MMC find the solution and sort the darn thing out?
If and its a big IF, I had an ARP4 I wouldn't be chucking it back and getting all legal on MMC, I'd be using it, enjoying it and expecting to hear when a fix is ready. Its not the end of the world is it? and even major manufacturers get it wrong and have recalls regularly, I say give the guys a break. Just what several owners have been trying to say, well SFO and me at least. It is turning into a great car, and once the teething problems are sorted I know it will end up being one of Morgans icons and will be eagerly sought out by buyers with pockets full of cash.....oh, hello, was I talking out loud again? Although, more seriously, my feeling is that it will be a cracking car soon, I've got around 1500 miles up now and it continues to improve [although not the handbrake yet, I'm just waiting for the new bracket now, oh, and the throttle bodies, oh, and the factory re-map.

News from Morgan regarding faulty handbrake. Morgan have responded to my complaint via Stuart at Krazyhorse, my ARP4 supplier. Morgan say:- they are aware of the problem and have been contacted by a number of owners about the matter. Aero Racing have designed a steel bracket which needs to be fitted to the car. This will cure the handbrake problem. Fitting instructions and part number will follow. The brackets have yet to be made and I expect there will be a recall of all ARP4's. I will not drive my ARP4 until this defect is cured, to do so would be breaking the law I suppose. Driving the car with faulty brakes would also invalidate my insurance. I have no idea how we have to wait for the bracket to be fitted and I would expect some recompense from Morgan. My £61950 sport car sitting in the garage gathering dust!

...and I would expect some recompense from Morgan. My M3 had a couple of minor problems and I was allowed to recompense my Morgan dealer with real money for the time he spent to sort them...
