So, apparently, the Malvern Factory has just issued some kind of ordenance to let all dealers know that all new cars that are sold to european dealers can no longer be collected at the factory by the Client.

This may or may not have to do with european legislation in force now, I wasn't fully briefed on that, am waiting for details.

If this is true, it is such a bummer, I was hoping to collect my M3W soon in Malvern.

Is anyone going through the same issue here?

Eloy

If you havn't already done a factory tour i would go anyway, it is a special occasion, even if you have to go home to get your car!

Thanks, Richard!

Ken, you're right about that, making the factory tour is a must, except my wife would perhaps stab me if I would suggest taking a trip from Portugal to the UK just to see a car factory.

Getting the car is the only excuse I had to do it, and it looked like it was slipping through my fingers, you see?

Lisbon's dealer has meanwhile told me that I'll still be able to collect the M3W in Marlvern, and won't be affected by the changes in legislation, since this was an arrangement I made with the dealer prior to these changes and they'll honour their word, as would be expected of Morgan.

Uff, that's a relief.

Hi Eloy, a relief indeed. Part of what makes these cars special to own is that you can go get them at their birthplace. It is something unique and it's very much a talking point whenever someone asks us about the cars and where did we get them.

What is this legislation? There really is no problem for Italy that I can imagine. When I picked up my car I paid the tax in Italy, based on the invoice, then wth the receipt for the tax and the COC I was able get the plates issued. I then organised insurance and went to the factory, stuck the plates on the car and drove home.

I was surprised when you told me you did that. As you know my own Plus 4 (1 year older than yours I think) came home with UK license plates. Hearing from you I then tried to bring the M3W with PT license plates but it wasn't possible. Maybe because that model had no previous registrations in Portugal?

Here's a confirmation that collecting cars at the Marlvern Factory is an absolute thrill!!

I ordered the M3W in february, paid an hefty downpayment, by july the M3W was paid in full, the delivery date is just around the corner and ... you guessed it ... factory has no license plate and all my hotel and ferry boat arrangements, road vacation and marital stability will be going down the drain.

Here's quoting Casablanca, kid:

Yvonne: Will I see you tonight?
Rick Blaine: I never make plans that far ahead.

It's amazing how much of a roulette it is to buy a car like this from these gentlemen at MMC.

I don't think it's a European legislation because I was talking to Alan Patterson at yesterday's Hopmog outing and he's got a new Plus 4 imminent, they've told him he can't collect it from the factory, and he's in the UK.
Maybe Alan can shed some more light on it.

Boa Noite,

Sorry to read this. Were you made aware that the factory are on summer holiday break this week..?
