Lets not get too worked up about this!
I wouldn't consider taking a grease gun on a road trip of 1000miles.
There's a huge difference between a thousand dry motorway miles, and a thousand miles of hairpins in pouring rain, which was almost how our Scottish trip turned out. On that occasion there was no change in steering feel, and a few pumps when we got home and all was well.
Obviously there are those of us who relish an hour under the Morgan, and there are those of us who would rather be somewhere else. So for the latter, the remote kit will do the job, but you still need to do a visual check from time to time.
The lower bush does most of the work and its surprising that the grease gallery is above that bush - into the cavity betwen the two bushes. The engineering is that the up & down movement pushes grease into the bushes and that's why the Mulfab bushes have spiral channels.
In the end if I have to do a kingpin job every five years it wouldn't bother me. Hopefully the kingpins I've replaced will last a lot longer.....................

+1 Even if one did wish to grease one's pins when on tour, all that's needed is a smallish grease gun, a plastic sheet to lie on, a rag and a pair of disposable gloves. Takes less than 10 minutes, you don't need to jack the car up.

Just done em ready for Laon trip - not too bad once you get used to it.
When I had the Suplex kit fitted - also had chrome kingpins and bronze bushes fitted - not sure if this makes any difference on greasing time scales.

All the various mods. to facilitate better greasing are good and of course the spiral Mulfab bushes also help. Those with older/standard suspension set up would be better advised not to use the remote system but (as Techniques would tell you) take the weight on a jack to create a gap for the grease to fully get in via the bottom nipple.

I think every 1,000 miles is a very safe number. But with hard chrome king pins and bronze bushes I would use 5,000 miles as a guide. As I use Vesconite Hilube bushes I grease once a year and have gone as long a two years with many miles. Too bad that MMC did not explore some of the more modern materials to solve this problem. Well what a stupid, stupid system..
Have spent a good half hour trying to (a) find the damn things under the layer of sh*t down there, and (b) trying to get grease either into the gun or into the nipple..
Loading grease guns hasn't changed over the years & it's still messy, just like laying on the ground and trying to get underneath.
The flexible nozzle was a boon, at least it could get the right angle, especially so the grease could escape the end and go everywhere other than in the blasted suspension.
Have run out of kitchen rolls, swarfega and brake cleaner & I HATE the damn thing today..
AAAAAAAAAGH!!!!

I have to say that greasing the suspension is one of the jobs I do not miss since buying the Aero.
I feel your pain.
