So as a Prospective owner thinking about a M3W purchase, after all the smiles and fun stories have been read I seem to find a lot of "problem" threads, namely keeping oil in it.
the internet would have me believe that oil can leak from pretty much any mechanical part, sprockets fail, belts jump teeth, exhausts fail and electrical/ECU gremlins exist.
So what in reality should i expect? I currently have and would keep the Aero 8, so some Morgan stuff i can cope with, but poor reliability i can not.

Buy a new one if you can afford it and want the best chance of reliability...but as others will tell you on here, there is no guarantee. At least you will have a pretty well sorted M3W and 30 months warranty

I have an early chassis number and it has been relatively trouble free, has not left me stranded and started whenever I push the button. Not everyone can say this and your experience may vary. But, it seems that the more current they are the less issues they stand to encounter as the kinks are worked out and even a sorted early model can be just as reliable as a new one.

I concur. The new ones are sorted out pretty nicely. Ever problem you referred to has been addressed. Many thanks to the early "Guinea pig" owners.

I was you last year, and a member here told me this. Just to put it in perspective there's currently 79 M3W's listed in the registry here. So about 5% of the total built. People usually find forums either when they are researching a new purchase, or looking for a solution to a problem. And people are more inclined to complain than be positive. So take it all with a grain of salt.

+1 go for it - there's nothing like an M3W for putting a smile on your face. Remember there are over 1,500 out in the wild and yes, there have been problems which are highlighted on this forum. These are now pretty much all sorted and many of us undertake significant journeys and events successfully. If your buying new or nearly new you should be OK. For earlier cars you need to check they have the 2014 mods - Centra compensator, steering kit, urban cooling, steel rear sprocket and chassis brace. The2014 bevel box mount has had mixed reviews and BB noise is still an issue but most of us find ways to cope - earplugs, sound deadening behind the seats or drive faster/slower at the noise peaks at a specific roadspeed. Don't fear mileage on older cars - the more miles the more any problems have been sorted out. I have over 9,00 on my late 2013 and several are now well into 20,000+ miles. Finally, this is the right group to ask questions - someone on here will have an answer or opinion (or know someone who does!)

I concur. The new ones are sorted out pretty nicely. Ever problem you referred to has been addressed. Many thanks to the early "Guinea pig" owners. We proudly call ourselves "The Beta Testers"! I would add that I am the proud owner of a September/October 2012 build and have over 21,000 miles on it. Most of the items that were problematic are no longer around. They were replaced with better components that might last a long while. This is now done at the factory before you get yours. As for the number of complaints about anything when something goes wrong, gets screwed up, whatever, you'll tell 14 people about it before you get tired of saying it. If everything goes right and life is good you might not even tell one soul...
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
