I have the NVH for ~5.000 km, but I changed the bevelbox the same time because of oil leaking. It is quieter now then before, but I still find the screaming too loud, but I can live with it.

Mine screamed so loud it was embarrassing, louder than a full race Mini with straight cut gears.

I fitted the Supermax pully and it cured it. Now just a reassuring mechanical whirring which one would expect.

If you have ever heard a Quaife progressive transmission as they used to use in the old rally cars--our BB's would seem quite a bit less in the noise department

I wonder if it would be possible to design and build a bevel box using gears from the new Moto Guzzi 1400cc California.

Out of interest having read this post, and if identifiable problems appear to point to the bevel box (at present, this isn't entirely the case so it appears), a suitable third party for inspection purposes, could be Nova Racing Transmissions, partridge Green West Sussex. Nova are a small business specialising in gearboxes and final drives etc, somewhat similar to Quaife. They make a reversing gearbox similar to Quaife, that both Triking and I use.

Could be a good idea to bring them a visit but my hope is mostly based on a solution of Garage 56.
That there must be a solution is something I'm sure. Driving BMW bikes for more than 40 years (and still doing) I never had one that screamed. But perhaps that's because it's build with the German " gründlichkeit "

Showing my ignorance. All older cars used to scream just like the 3W when in reverse. Was that hearbox or diff noise?
My first car, a morris minor I am sure screamed a bit forwards also.
Given the choice of the 1958 minor or the three wheeler for a long trip: minor every time. It never let me down

Or flip across the southern border to Lake Como. Guzzi never had a bevel drive that screamed either.

There are probably a couple items in your comments that make noise while in reverse.

First off, hypoid gears, those that are in a standard differential tend be quiet when run in forward and sometimes get a bit noisy when run in reverse.

Also most older cars have straight cut gears in reverse and low gear. So a bit of whine in low or reverse was normal. Some had straight cut on all forward and reverse gears. This caused some noisy when moving in any direction.

Harley in their awesome wisdom in '07 when they came out with their 6 speed Cruise Drive transmission, they had 1st and 5th as straight cut gears. Due to the gearing of the primary and that the bike at anything less than 70 mph would not pull itself in 5th gear, most people ran in 5th most of the time. Boy did they make noise...

That's when people started trying lots of different trans lube. The prevailing winner was Red Line Heavy Duty Shockproof. That's why it was a lube that I thought might help quiet down the M3W BB.

In '10 or '11 they made 5th gear a helical cut gear and that removed the whine in 5th. My '09 still has the straight cut 5th and with Red Line Shockproof, I can hardly tell the difference in noise between 4th, 5th or 6th.
