I've been watching Pru and Tim on telly and I really fancy a canal trip, too. Nearest I've got to it is a week on the Broads and that was great. You really see a different side of the landscape.

Visited Chester races recently and was amused to see this boat moored in the nearby canal.

Just pointed local chum and narrow boat fan at this thread he'll no doubt chime in soon now.

Just don't say you don't like the Mo on Aussie 3 Wheelers smile

We live in Australia but keep a 27' Sea Otter narrowboat at Pyrford Marina on the River Wey, Surrey. To the non narrowboaters this is made of aluminium with a flooding keel. Each year we visit the UK we have it trailed to some part of the system, and meander our way home....Last year Coventry to Oxford to London by canal and river. Have done Mon and Brec, Llangollen, Kennet and Avon, etc. All very agreeable, as will be my M3W when I get it ! Even with an Aussie mo ! Best hire trip Mon and Brec for non boaters, great scenery and because it's not connected to other canals not too busy. 4/5 hire companies keep prices reasonable, but it's in Wales so it will be wet !
Cheers Mark

Last year a few of us from Taffmog went to the Hatton Locks. Lunch at the Hatton Arms overlooking them at approx half way through.
Excellent pub for a meal.....
Awesome to see all those locks from the canal trust carpark just below the pub.
I will try and dig out some photos.
A Taffmogger has a narrowboat and says he avoids the area due to the time needed to get through all 21!
He has an Aero8 so at the opposite end of the speed scale!

Oops....add on info...
Last year on the way to Morgans at Windermere we stopped in the Mill Hotel in Chester on the way up and back.
It straddles the canal and they have a restaurant boat that does a run up and down while you eat on board. Very nice meal and a nice evening.
5 mins walk from the city centre too.
