Missing paint
I'll be the first to admit that this is not the most pressing problem, but I have lost a tiny area of paint from my cowl badge. It’s not important enough to buy a new badge, so – assuming these badges are standard on c.2010 trads - does anyone have a paint reference? Probably not, and it’s probably not worth buying any quantity for what will be one dab with a modeller’s fine paintbrush. So back to trawling the Humbrol mini-tin colour range…

My '96 4 badge has lost some of its enamelling to. Why don't they use the same finish as most club badges, they all seem to last OK?

Alternatively Steve, why not find the Humbrol that matches your car's body colour? Just an

The paint went grubby on mine so I removed it and painted it the same as the car (RED ) I like red , but don't think a mog owner has spotted it yet , and that was a good few year ago.

Humbrol is the answer, then coat with 2 pack Epoxy varnish.
These badges are not the old fashioned Enamel they are made of (plastic) resin which is cheaper to produce, my 'guess' is the resin expands and contracts at a different rate to the metal. If you run the badge over a flame it will all drop out.

Just an And not a bad idea at that, Graham. The official colour of my car is Baby Blue and was made only between 2009 and 2011. I have the paint reference in case I ever have a serious and significant need for it but, in the meantime, when I bought the car the dealer gave me a small amount of the paint for any touch-ups. I have been keeping that for the forthcoming tyre change. The car has painted wires and the first owner kerbed the car twice and did a very poor colour-“matched” repair. In addition, the weights are on the outside of the rim so, when new ones are fitted (to the inner rim this time), there will be horrible marks left behind. Then I will need to rub down and touch up with Baby Blue. All of which is a long-winded way of saying that if there is any paint left over I’ll give your suggestion a go. I removed it and painted it the same as the car (RED ) I like red, but don't think a mog owner has spotted it yet If we ever meet, JtL, and I see the car I’ll be sure to point it out!

Don't bother looking under the bonnet or mog as the other bits of red are blood of my MANY bits of removed skin. I removed it and painted it the same as the car (RED ) I like red, but don't think a mog owner has spotted it yet If we ever meet, JtL, and I see the car I’ll be sure to point it out! [/quote]

I redid mine with Testor's black enamel 15 years ago. It still looks good.

I have the older wings logo and used Humbrol enamel - I think I used a Matt black first then the gloss black over

All the paint on mine has peeled off - so now have a silver cowl badge! My 100th Anniversary badge is rapidly going the same way

The badge on my 2014 4/4 lost some of the insert...removed it and held it over the gas ring and peeled off the remaining material.
Polished up the badge and it looks great..looks more authentic to my mind.
