I had quite a bad leak on my 2005 Roadster at the top of the screen. I discovered that it was coming in at the top of the screen pillars. I did a similar fix to Dave's, but found it still leaked, although a lot less. I finally tracked the last bit down to the gap between the header rail & the bracket, where the weld stopped short of the end. A piece of insulating tape wrapped around the joint proved the cure & a lasting job was done by running a bead of hot-melt glue down the join. No more leaks for 5 years or more.

Nearly 5,000 km and so far our Morgan has only seen a couple of very light showers, barely enough to get the car wet. No water in the car when I have washed it but that is not the same as being on the road.

Having read all the threads about water entering the car I am a bit nervous about our first encounter with real rain.

This is the problem with all such forums we all get paraniod about things that may or may not effect us.....just my view. Look at it this way - if you read this forum from start to finish other than the passion for ownership - you would not own a Morgan for fear of king pins, rain, creaking springs etc.....now the truth is something else.

Oh I agree Richard. Worth adding that it seems with a Morgan if there is a problem you just fix it, at least that is what most people seem to do.

I find that water that can accumulate in the channel for the sliding window and is a a bit annoying. I am thinking of drilling a small hole in the front corner, where it seems to accumulate, to let it run out.

I recently spent a day driving across Northern France in the rain and kept a bar towel handy for the inevitable leaks, a lot depends on speed and wind direction. Drilling a hole in the side screen frame would be considered a modification to your Morgan and void your warranty....

I went to examine the car today and I think filling the slot with an extrusion is the best bet. I will also get some neoprene to fill the gap at the top of the windscreen pillar.

Every Morgan owner needs to know where his towel is - at all times.

This subject has appeared in one or two threads recently, and more details have come to light. I made a start this week on the frame uprights.
This is how the uprights look from the factory (2005 spec).
The 'grey strip' appears to be 3mm neoprene. Note also that my dashboard leather is not like polished PVC.....
It's a trick of the light, honestly wink



My latest roll of HD Polyethylene has a chamfered edge, which makes it suitable for an external water deflector........

So with some deft use of heavy duty Bostik........



From the outside, it looks like this:



From the top, and this shows how the rake of the screen doesn't match the sidescreens. (If it did, the hood would be too long!!!!)
