I have learned to ignore my OCD on this. Right now in New England the bugs have come out to play. I came home last night and the windshields were covered in bug juice. When I have time today I'll make the attempt or just let it sit out in the rain to soften the worst of it before I have to tackle it.
Thank dawg for beer...
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I agree with you Eloy. I find I have a deep need to keep all my equipment in (clean) order. I think for me keeping things in order is indeed a metaphor for my life. I'm certainly not a "neet freak" by any means, but order gives me a deep sense of satisfaction.

It also bears better for the machine. When we're cleaning and delving into nooks and crannies we find potential problems...leaks, cracks, loose bits, etc. Cleaner engines run cooler too.

Freshly cleaned cars always seem to run better for some reason.

Like mine clean and shiny, but if it gets dirty I wait till I feel like cleaning it. ACF50 is the stuff to use to protect it.

This is a huge investment for me, I am going to keep it looking as nice as I can.

My tip for cleaning the wheels/spokes. Use a broad soft bristle paint brush soaked in detergent solution. Works well in the nookes and crannies of engine as well, particularly cylinder fins.

Be careful with these on bodywork - I know to from hard experience. As the advert says , the twists retain dust and dirt , which is the last thing you want on a surface you are moving over paintwork. They need continual rinsing out.

Also, get a jack under the suspension and lift each wheel just enough so you can spin it. Gets the job done MUCH more quickly and evenly. Great way to do the tires too. Wrenches here in the USA always go for Dawn dishwashing liquid... it's what's used to wash the grease off of birds after oil spills... it's the best
