Anyone else watch this yesterday..?

I thought it was a brilliant hour & a half's viewing despite the welsh C4 presenter being as dull as ditchwater.

Great racing & well done to Lewis. I can't believe they gave air time to Justin Bieber saying well done though..

I like Monaco despite the kids always yawning when I spot the places we've had coffee there. No sense of taste these young people.. nerd

Steve,
Yes, despite all I have previously said about F1, I still find it compelling.
Sorry, I can't agree about Lewis though. I know he is a brilliant driver, possibly the best in the current field, however he is really a spoilt child at heart and wants to be an American gangster rap artist.
What a mess Red Bull made of Daniels pit stop, he should have won and he face after the race said it all.
I wonder what went on in the Red bull motor home with the post race de brief what with the pit stop cock up and the Hero to Zero effort by young Verstappen. scared

Here for a good time not a long time!!

I watched as I too have been there. Hard to find the spot where I had Pizza and coffee though. It was shrouded by the armco. I am not a Louis fan either, rather like Kimi, but he had his glory in the past (perhaps a bit like me??)

Cheers,

Mark

I notice C4 made the new presenter smarten up with a jacket rather than having his shirt hanging out, did not work. I expect DC was made to wear a similar uniform for diplomatic reasons as he is always presentable it was good of him to do so i thought.

Whether you like Lewis and his culture or not, he is a good role model for youngsters to aspire to i think, he has not done anything too serious to disgrace himself so far and handles himself very well with the press.
He has my support for that alone.

I think that the main presenter is nowhere near good enough, but Coulthard and Webber were both excellent, and could do this without him.

Bieber is a non-entity and it's astonishing that he was front of house at the end. Obviously a big chum of Lewis.

For once it was a gripping race and although Lewis is not my favourite for the reasons mentioned above I was delighted that he was able to break his famine at Monaco. That he has talent is without doubt, but he's had some really bad luck. This win puts last years debacle at Monaco behind him.
It's a shame that Ricciardo lost his smile over this. He's a racer and sh*t happens. He will be back!

McLaren did well and although this race probably favoured their drivers and low speed performance it bodes well for the future. I'm no fan of Ron Dennis but I would like to se McLaren competative again.

Interesting that Ch4 didn't interview Rosberg. Wonder what happened there?

Finally - Monaco - what's the attraction? It looks ghastly, like a huge blot on the landscape. Obviously I'm not a city person, and citys are the last place I want to spend time, but many people are in awe of Monaco. I suppose it's the seduction of wealth & glamour, & wealth?
Google earth it and it looks even worse.

Monte Carlo is a rich man's dermot hole hide

There are some beautiful places along France's Med coast, so why choose to live in Monaco? Tax haven, yes, but that means you have no social conscience or morals.

I enjoyed driving round the circuit in 2003 (best lap 6min03) but there's nothing to recommend the place apart from the Jardin Exotique, up the hill a bit, which is beautiful.

As to the racing, I don't like petulant Hamilton but I admired yesterday's drive : well thought out and with the benefit of a Red Bull team that must've celebrated the win the night before. 5 vacancies for wheelmen and the pit crew team leader for Canada. (regrettably I'm booked up with my grand kids else I'd have a word with Christian).

Welsh presenter is woeful - almost as bad as Beiber.

The race proves my hypothesis : each Grand Prix circuit must have sprinklers fitted round the course; if it doesn't actually rain, then a computer program should randomly operate said sprinklers for a portion of the GP. It's what made Monaco watchable this year.

Cheers !

Have you actually been there Dave? It's unlike many small towns because of the wealth I guess but it's all under control and not at all in your face. SWMBO and I have been half a dozen or so times, just a day each time, as part of cruise itineraries....had some lovely walks (back when I could walk all day) around the back streets, my favourite was to catch the bus up to the palace and walk down the hill to the harbour front for lunch. The ships we were on would drop anchor in the bay and tenders would take us ashore alongside the Riva speedboat dealers....some serious stuff there! It's really not that bad at all, we had heard horror stories about prices but never found that to be the case, point in question I wanted to walk the circuit and we stopped cor coffee and a cake at the Cafe de Paris in Casino square, supposed to be eye watering in costs, we had a cake and coffee and a bottle of water each and it was under £20...which seems about fair to me.

We are probably bias as on our first visit there it was SWMBO birthday and sail away was dealayed as there was a firework display that night and lots of the locals came out to the bay in small boats and everything was reflected in the water, 20 degrees at midnight helped......top deck and drinking Moët....;-)

Monaco is unique in the world - with possibly the highest concentration of criminals yet the lowest incidence of crime.
