Just read on the interweb that the BBC bosses are in the process of reducing Chris Evan's air time and promoting one or two of the others currently involved.
That is a huge relief to hear, but the copycat format is rather tiresome. I wish they would inject some twist of originality into the program.
Conclusion: I'm bored with it before it's even got going.

It's not a copycat. That is the property that the BBC own, the Top Gear format.

I think 'copycat' does sum things up. It's a complete change of presenters, a different producer and there is really only one small change, the star in a car feature now is rallycross.

The existing format was the product of Andy Wilman (producer) and Jeremy Clarkson.

Episode 3 was a lot more reasonable, but episodes 1 and 2 may well have lost a significant percentage of the audience.

..Copycat, meaning that the show is attempting to follow on with the same kind of style but with new presenters trying to in some way copy the style that the other three developed during their time presenting the show.

...In my opinion, they aren't doing it as well, but my point is, why don't they change the show somehow and produce something fresher...newer......more unique.

Not just the style. The format as well.

...which they then sold to the BBC (for a huge amount of money). The format / style is what the programme is. If you want something different then you'll need to watch Clarkson's and Willman's new show, that will definitely not be the same format.

I agree with most of this as well.

Less Ginger is always better. None would be a solid improvement.

Sabine and Matt are the better presenters. Matt is growing on me as well. A little more flexibility in the script could allow him to shine, it feels a touch controlled/scripted/over-managed/plastic/naff - you get the idea.

Monkeys section was good, the F12-TDF thing must be an utter waste of time on UK roads. They may as well just tether it to a track on delivery. Mind you if I was offered one the decision would not take long. Yes please. Until it comes to paying for the tyre bill alone. In one distant view there was tyre smoke for the entire clip at 70+ through two bends. Amazing.

I understand that the format is what makes it Top Gear, that does not make it good though. I thought the program had become staid and the direction/format was as much the problem as the presentation.

I agree re the new star in a rallycross car. When I watch it I get the feeling they have to jazz up the camera angles and clip bits together in order to make it look more exciting than it is.

I had no idea who the two people were, sorry I am not a sport watcher outside of motor sports, my failing. They were quite funny, totally overshadowed Ginger and lifted the section quite well ! If the comedian has a G65 off roader he is clearly doing VERY well.

Still not worth getting excited about. Thank heavens for Sky+ type record and forward technology !

Chris Evans has made a fortune from his shouty style, but it just shows that what works for music based tfi type programmes doesn't transfer well into motoring/TG.
He must be disappointed at the feedback.
I do like him on radio though.

+ 1 Dave.

I've given Chris 3 episodes but he's worse each time. Le Blanc I like and Harris and Schmitt are ok. Please ditch CE Auntie ASAP.

Stick to TFI, radio and CarFest Chris : you're great at those but TG is not for you.

Cheers

Ps how does 'Harris' get translated to 'agar tis' ??

Sorry Dave W, I can't stand him on the radio either, I have to wait until Ken Bruce comes on before I can switch on.

Here for a good time not a long time!!
