Morgan full of petrol, bags packed, tyres pumped up with air me pumped up with coffee.

Anyone out there going to the Real Le Mans this weekend?

Sadly I'm not going. Was planning to and then my "life's little helpmate" decided that both bathrooms and three bedrooms all needed gutting and emptying, though the emptying refers to my wallet. sos A complete waste of petrol money.

Let us know how you get on. I would be particularly interested in the arrangements you make for accommodation at the race.

Not this year, but wishing I was. I love the 24 Hour.

Plans already for next year, but don't think I can do the "Cowsheds" anymore. (For those who have not been, think Mad Max - Bartertown)
I'll be looking for something slightly more civilised, but hopefully still within a walk of the bar at Tertre Rouge.

Have a great time Steve.

On my list for next year, subject to finance and swmbo , might go for super tenting, and retain the atmosphere.

IMHO, the Classic has become far too commercialised in recent years. If you want to get close to and watch classic cars racing, my preference would be the Silverstone Classic.
The 24 Hour is the finest endurance race in the World. Again, and IMHO, so much to do, so much to watch. Absolutely brilliant.
(Also, the next Classic after this year will be 2018)

Don't know if its the same now, when we went to the main event a few years back, swmbo phoned the French tourist board about accommodation , and was given a list of addresses of private homes of people that take in b+b for that week because of the shortage of hotels in the area. We stayed5 nights with a wonderfull family, who made us most welcome. Even sharing their very large wine cellar with us.

.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.
