Recently talking with two dealer i have been told at the end of November Malvern will stop to produce 4 seaters, actually last week left only 2 slot in the production , apparently it's question of homologation it's not so good news in my little eyes. I have to say i am not huge fan of the 4 seaters but all the Morgan model it's a niche and for a niche company loose one it's never a good sign....
PS: i dono if this subject have been discussed here before

This has appeared before Yann but there are always people that have missed some articles and it is a major decision to stop production. I expect the second hand prices will gradually creep up now as they are the only young family option. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/363517/1

I didnt think that Trad Morgans were in any sense "homolgated". I thought that there were far more basic arrangements for small volume producers, not quite the SVA but not much more than that. Do they have to do crash test for example? And arent any approvals historic ie grandpa rights?

I have a '63 +4-4Str. But for touring. I have never felt the back seat was a safe place for children. However; My friend Loretta and Husband raised 2 daughters in the back seat of their '58 +4-4Str. For a while it was their only driver. Both of their Daughters have big pickup trucks and tow a horse trailer.

I scare to say that, but going like this PLUS the Brexit we are going to see (i hope to never see it) the end of car passion, and of course no more kit car ...... so all small brand will be forced to close down

I wouldn't worry too much about Morgan closing down Yann they have made it through 2 World wars and in comparison Brexit is a pimple on the nose.
I can see more latitude for GB small manufacturing units as a result of it but not necessarily exported products other than in kit form, we are good at this. We'll wait and see.

I understand that production has stopped is because of the need to provide "isofix" mountings for children's seats in the rear. which are not possible with the seats as they are.
I was also told that it isn't forever, but probably a couple of years before they can re-engineer the seats.

Peter, that is what we were told at Allon White's open day by the Morgan MD. So I guess it must be correct.
