I'm not using my M3W every day so it often rests for one or two weeks in the garage. Today I had a morning tour and suffered strong petrol smell for several minutes while driving but could not find a leak or something unusual. Starting the engine was unusually fast (only few rotations till the engine fired) and I had strong pertol smell afterwards in the garage and for several miles in the cockpit on the go.
Any proposals where I should search for the reason of the unusual smell? (The garage floor was dry, no leakage there either) Fuel tank is filled 50%

Look just behind the air filter at the hose clamps

I like Q8 would check the fuel hose clamps. If they are the factory crimped clamps they may be leaking intermittently. I had evidence of fuel on the aero screen but since adding proper screw fuel hose clamps all clear. Cheaper worm drive (jubilee) clamps are not up to the job as they do no tighten evenly round the hose. Not got the car at home but if I remember correctly there is a cross over pipe between both inlets so you need 6 clamps.

As Q8 and Tim have suggested it is most likely the hose clamps , for some reason Morgan did not fit the correct ones !
Don't risk driving it if they are the cause , as petrol on the screens makes them craze .

Thank you all for the tips! I'll check the clamps tomorrow.

If clamps seem to be OK and you had recently fueled up, sometimes if you really top it off you wont get full on vapor lock but as the vehicle sits and pressure is released a small amount of gas can leak from the breather. Which is right behind the seats making the smell strong while sitting in the car compared to it smelling stronger near the engine if the clamps are not functioning. I had to have the clamps replaced as last summer mine started spraying fuel while driving.

On hot days and stop and go traffic I get fuel coming out of the front of the throttle body.

I had what sounds like a similar petrol smell and it was a leaking left hand side petrol tank.
It took several weeks before any fuel dripped onto the garage floor as the tanks are mounted on a plywood base which soaked up the petrol until it became saturated.
Check the front hoses first but if the smell persists then try to get it on a ramp and check the tanks.

Clamps are the worst offender. Two out of the four were leaking. I did an emergency fix with pipe clamps as I was on the road. Next day I ordered real fuel line clamps as well as a fire extinguisher which is now mounted under the passenger dash.
Having fuel blow into my face and splash on the wind screens is not exactly an encouraging event!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
