It was being tested on the ring by their test driver.
I wonder what they have learnt from that? They want to break the long time lap record of Stefan Bellof with his Porsche 956 in 1983. (unbelievable 6:11) This is what Kornigsegg claims for officially on their homepage. But the Ring has its limits and it could be possible that Stefan's lap will keep record for a longer period of time. https://pretendracecars.net/2015/07/12/i-cant-beat-stefan-bellofs-nordschleife-lap-record-can-you/Koenigsegg crashed a testcar in 2014 on the Ring as well when doing the same attempt. In 2015 the Ring had a speed limit in consequence of a horrible crash when a Nissan GTR lost ground, flew into spectators and killed one. Then this section, called "Flugplatz" got modified and the speed limit went. So record trials are allowed again. Here we are... Koenigsegg tried again...yesterday. After the crash of Niki Lauda on the Ring, exactly 40 years ago F1 went away. Also breed like the 956 show the limits of the Ring (and the car and the driver and the physics) The Ring is fascinating but probably not made for every amount of power. On the other hand why not seek the challenge, and drivers can kill themselves there with a 120 HP car.

I watched a program about Koenigsegg the other day.
Enjoyed it.
Koenigsegg arrange track days for owners to drive at speed.
It is a superb machine.
However...every day use?
It does behave at normal driving speeds but, like any supercar/hypercar, way over the top.

I "did" the 'ring once on a fully laden touring motorcycle in the pouring rain. 18+ mins!
All the others there didn't want to go as it was raining, so I had the place to myself. Can't imagine doing it with every tom dick and Harry thinking they are Lewis Hamilton.

Apparently the crash was caused due to an ABS sensor failure on the front, during a fast lap the driver was on the edge and thus was relying on the electronics.
Apparently going forward if a sensor fails the car will now head into limp mode, as the driver missed the warning light on the dash..easily done I imagine at that speed.

I really appreciate their openness. Koenigsegg gives a very good role model how to behave best in such a situation. This impression seems to be underlined by almost all the positive comments on their site below the new article.
