Someone should start a parliamentary petition about this.

I expect his wife will defend him and keep it in the family, the money that is.

I hate to try and talk sense here, especially when it involves Bliar, but I fully understand why the tax payer will and should fund his defence.

Can you imagine anyone wanting to be in office, and especially a PM, if there was a chance they may have to pay to defend themselves against future accusations.

In this instance it's most likely a valid case but I would guess there are many other spurious.

It's hard enough getting decent people to be politicians (there must be some ) but would be even harder in our increasingly litigious society otherwise.

So a bit like the bigot spouting rubbish as is his right under free speech; I agree with the overall concept even if I disapprove of a specific case.

Yes I agree with you they have to have some protection with regard to the decisions they take as politicians and the ensuing repercussions otherwise why would anyone take the job.

With him I will admit to it being personal I have mistrusted him from day one and he never once failed to disappoint in his tales of deceit and mistrust throughout his time in office.

We just have to hope that justice is done and that it will be worth it for the dependents once the dust settles, they have the moral victory with the result of Chilcott and I guess that means the most to them.
