Sorry to hear about your woes. Just as a matter of interest what is the mileage on your car.

As mentioned the common repair is electric power steering. I would though recollend that if possible you try a similar car with this electric PAS before going down this route. It substantially changes the feel of the steering. the one I drove seemed to have assistance lag giving a slightly dead feeling before turning.

I understand that there have been repairs to the original system, though maybe not easy to source either parts or competent skills to do the job.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Stupid question, but I assume driving with no PS fluid will cause the dry pump to cease and then take the drive belt with it, or is driving with no PS just harder word and not detrimental?

Believe it is the original hydraulic system, 45k miles.

I don't think it's belt driven, but mechanically off the engine. Can't though show it to you on photos as you need the front end of to see it.

Sorry, can't tell you what happens if it's run dry.

Cheers

Just carried out this conversion with my local garage, did it before Laon and 3000 mile trip to Spain.I sourced a mini pump, pump cradle, pump wiring connectors and my mechanic got the hoses and made up the wiring and heat shield. The Morgan factory do not supply the full conversion kit anymore, all they had in stock was the high pressure pipes at an unbelievable price. My only concern after the trip is how noisy the pump is but everything is OK when driving it.
This was the first major repair in 9 years but my air conditioning compressor went during the trip and replacing that since we got home has been a major job.

Were these Mini parts from the current model or were they from an earlier variant. Grateful for any part numbers if available

High pressure hose failed, mechanical old power steering pump is fine and rocking on well at 45k miles.
