Just had the 911 serviced including MOT and Mobil 1 oil change by the local Porsche specialist - Total £243.94 inc VAT - Thats the running and maintenance cost for the year + insurance and road tax exc fuel.
Less than a grand all in - not bad!

But be prepared for engine out at some point if it develops the oil leak from the rear of the feeder pipe to the cams that drips onto the heat exchangers. The oil seal always fails, usually every 30-40K or with age, even though only a £2 oil seal it can prove to be costly as requires heat exchangers to come off and they don't always oblige and can need replacing. So put a few pennies away incase it has not been done in recent years.

Buggered Off, to a modern none leaky car, heart's still ticking
It's nearly thirty one years old now Howard - air cooled ones finished with the 993 in 1998.
Probably wouldn't have gone down well parked outside the local miners welfare club when it was made in 1985 - especially if Arthur had been driving it.

An example of the North/South divide! That's way too cheap for a Porsche. My last Porsche 911 still had a factory used car warranty on it and servicing at an Official Porsche Centre was almost extortionate. Well done by the way and the aircooled ones are lovely.

I guess this is one of those times that the exchange rate might influence perception, but even though I'm old fashioned...I drive a M3W, after all... but $324 for an oil change...by an independent, no less... is outrageous.
