Clipper, That is fantastic value. As someone else said, North/South divide, My Beetle cost more than that for an annual. Well done old chap.

I guess this is one of those times that the exchange rate might influence perception, but even though I'm old fashioned...I drive a M3W, after all... but $324 for an oil change...by an independent, no less... is outrageous.
How can you not see that?
Thats a full annual service plus oil change and government mandated inspection and test.

The problem is the obsession that has developed for FFSH on second hand sports cars. So instead of doing a simple oil change yourself you are forced in the direction of the main dealers

Quite a difference to what it cost a workmate back in the 80's. He was always a Porsche fan and other than pinching stuff out of the showroom (to pay for the Porsche) I think it was his only vice.
In effect it cost him more than a month's salary for a routine service, and his salary was well above average.

Looking at the hundreds of 911s at Silverstone, while I understand the appeal of older versions, other cars for me had much greater pull. Reliant Sabre Six for one, similar credentials to my Gilbern. I also covet Cobra replicas. And GT40 replicas. And I still have a soft spot for Lotus - except the Evora! But some of the others which I should like.....Eg Sunbeam Tiger, leave me cold....... Funny old world.
