Anybody out there who has remapped the ECU on a Zetec Silvertop?
I have a 2001 4/4 with a silvertop circa 1997, I have fitted a K&N Apollo cold air intake and fitted a Librands sports exhaust system and am thinking of a remap?

David - same model and engine as you

Don't know about the remap but interested in your intake

I just put a K&N filter in the existing box so would be interested to find out what you have fitted

Hi Stewart
See this link, a photo of my setup is on page 6.

http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/339575/Airbox_-_Help_needed_to_identi

The K&N filter fits very nicely after the original set up, and mounts with the help of a large hose clip to the existing S.S. bracket for the old air filter.

Have routed the cold air intake via home made box to the louvers just forward of the windscreen. Not sure it would work so well with aero screens?

David.

Sorry, missed this originally. I've no experience of this engine in a Morgan, but i used to run Silver top Zetecs in Westfields, with various inlet/cam/exhaust options, all managed by either Weber alpha or Omex 600 ecu and mapped by Northampton motorsport.

1.8L on poor 45's (2 progression drillings only) 4 into 1 long primaries exhaust = 145bhp
Same on unlocked ECU, 155bhp
130 spec motorsport 1.8L zetec with balanced bottom end, light flywheel, port matched head and casting marks removed, ex esprit 45's with 5 progression drillings and as big chokes as we could = 175bhp
Set of piper 285 cams added and timed in on the RR and jenveys fitted = 192bhp and still reliable.

Good to hear.
Does a new ecu have to be bought then to be programmable or can the original be plugged in and done for a mild tune?
Thanks Tom

I have no idea what ECU's the Morgans run, i suspect some kind of remap is possible with the existing one, talk with NMS would be my advice.

Fo me i needed an ECU to run the initial zetec on carbs and while only doing the spark control the web con alpha ECu originally had a non rewritable chip in it….hence locked. these days all chips are re writable so no real issue. I swapped to Omex as they had more features that i needed….different maps, launch control, clutch switch for full throttle shifts…..
