Very well. There is a lot of weight up front to keep them planted and they are very responsive. It is far easier to break the rear end loose than to have the front end lose it.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I think we'll try these. We have about 9300 miles on our Blockleys. This is our Avons after 1500 miles, which included one trip to The Dragon.

1,500 ? I have 3,600 on mine and they look like new, and I drive the piss out of it on nothing but twisties.

Was that before the "comfort kit" steering modification? The tread wear rate was high before that but not that high, you must have been driving 100% on the edge for the 1500 miles! The later steering geometry improves the wear rate dramatically in my experience.

I have just changed my original Avons for Blockleys at 10,000 miles and they still had about 3mm of tread on them.

I'm wondering if you all (with the short tire life) have checked your toe in lately? It should be "0" degrees. I find my car is VERY sensitive to toe in AND tire pressure. Also I run 28# in the fronts. My Avons are going on 4000 miles and look like new. My car is a 2012 and I check toe in, caster and camber (Empire Kit) once per year and I find slight changes in all, A simple test is can you push the car easily on the level with one hand?

I will have 9,000 miles on my Avons by this weekend and I could run them easily anether 1,000 more but I have a set of Excelsior Competition tires in the shed waiting. I do like the old school look of the Excelsior Competition that is why I went with them. I now a guy that got over 15,000 out of his OEM Avons so I guess it's all in the you drive/ push it.

I just had a right front flat and I think caused by a pinched tube because of low air pressure. 2700 miles. I have been running the correct 22 psi air pressure but haven't checked in a "few" miles. My left front was down to 18 psi.

1. Can you run these tires and wheels tubeless?

2. Is 28 psi a better pressure to run?

No, the front's cannot be run tubeless.

For the original Avons 28psi is about right. At 22 the tread is moving about laterally as the sidewalls are pretty soft.
