Hello
I have a problem with my radiator, I think. At low speed or stop and go traffic and warmer outside temperatures the fan of the radiator switches on very often. Sometimes it runs continuously. Now I decided to replace the radiator. Mulfab and Williams are offering radiators for the 3.7 Roadster. Which of them is the better solution in cooling and fitting. Has someone built in one of them and can tell the experience.
Thank you for your comments

Hi Christoph
They are also available from Mulberry Fabrications, in fact Peter pioneered the aluminium radiator for Morgan's and has been making rads for nearly 30 years. His website (check out Google) has downloadable fitting instructions, many of us have his radiators (there are others as well who make) and my last 3 Morgan's have all had them, a few months ago I worked on my old 2002 +8 and 14 years later the radiator looks as new and I have never had any problem using his radiators.

Yes, second that. I'm sure the Williams one is also very good but I'm delighted with my Mulberry rad. It's beautifully made.

I have it on good authority that an aluminum radiator is a bit inferior to a standard Morgan Radiator when it come to heat transfer. However; the Alloy radiator is quite a lot lighter and because it is welded rather than soldered is more robust than a standard Morgan Radiator. Plus if built by a very good craftsman (Peter Mulberry) gives very good service. I am using a +8 Morgan Radiator (second owner) given to Me by a friend in Denver that purchased an alloy radiator. This radiator has been faultless. I also purchased a Replica Morgan Radiator which is a copy of a '60's radiator only with upgraded materials and craftsmanship. Also over 50,000 miles and faultless. Not sure where the DHC (,61) radiator came from but with less miles seems OK. Looks to Me it comes down to CRAFTSMANSHIP!

I had one of Peters first ali radiators for a plus 8 i purchased from him. Beautifully made, a screw in fan sensor and more efficient.

Christoph, I could be totally wrong here but my experience so far is, the fan only kicks in in traffic and at lower speeds. On free country roads i never heard the fan. So i think, it is more a question of airflow trough the engine bay than one of radiator capacity. Have you considered an additional airduct behind the front valance? I've seen them somewhere but don't remember the manufacturer. You could also remove the mesh behind the grill. Spacers at the rear hood lock could also help.

Hi - I had a 3.7 and it was one of the features of the engine - the fan would come on at low speeds and sometimes was on all the time. I think this is normal, I don't think you have a problem. Would hate you to go to all the expense of solving a problem that actually isn't a problem. Perhaps some other 3.7 owners might comment too?

Likewise the 3.0L S2 Roadster. I think they are a bit under radiatored, so to speak.
A bit different to the +8 4.8 where the fan rarely seems to come on and the car sits at either 95c or 100c irrespective of any changes in traffic, speed or whatever.
This is despite there being 4 radiators in the front, all aluminium and made by Serck They are: 1 = Water 2 = Oil 3 = A/C 4 = Power Steering Fluid And a water/oil heat exchanger under the LH wing for the ATF.

Christoph - it's only an issue if it doesn't keep the engine temperature in check, what temperatures are you seeing?
I know in Germany from experience that you generally have higher average summer temperatures than here in the UK (looking out the window on the damp view) if the air is warmer then it'll need assistance at lowish speeds.
I take it that you have bled the coolant system?
You could measure the the temperature that the radiator is switching at to make sure it isn't switching to early.
