Can anyone provide recommendation on Insurers?

I've obtained a couple of insurance quotes pending the 'imminent' arrival of my new 2016 Aero both of which are just short of £1,250!! That's more than 3 x what I was paying for my 911 Targa 4's.
I'm 55+ (just), full no claims bonus, clean licence, no accident history, driving since I was 17, IAM member, car always kept in a fully alarmed garage, etc, etc .... and they want a tracker fitted as a compulsory requirement
Seems a bit OTT!
Any (helpful) suggestions welcomed

LWH

When i purchased my new plus 8, that is what i had to pay in the first year. Second year was £800 and subsequent years £350.

Guess they dont like new aero's.

As it happens Got and Wynne are one of the two quotes I have at £1,246...

They even asked me for my past driving experience and ownership of high performance vehicles... but that seems to have made little or no difference...

That's at least a glimmer of hope that the premiums will drop dramatically!

Did they insist on a Tracker? My frustration about this insistence is that there was a point in time not so long ago when Police Scotland had very few/if any vehicles fitted with the necessary hardware to actually track a Tracker (inside info from my recently retired Traffic Cop brother). I've actually made a FOI-type request to them to provide me with details of how many cars are fitted with it, how many are on the road in a normal shift pattern and how many properly trained operatives are there.

I pay a similar amount on an any driver policy. The only exclusion this has is my 2 kids but surprisingly their mates can drive the car.

Give Headleys a try.

Thats with Boncaster and no tracker but limited to 4000 miles. They now do both the plus 8 and the aero 8 for £540 which i think is ok value.

You didn't say, or I missed it but have you asked your existing insurers? While their quote in the normal way of things could be high, they may mirror your no-claims and perhaps be competitive in year one.

The three wheeler started out with the same company who covered the 4/4, and I got a full no-claims bonus from the outset.

I had a similar shock when I enquired about insuring the 4/4 I've yet to buy, long and short of it, Aviva was the best and by a very long way. It's a new policy, but they will add it to my existing car with twelve years NCB for £65!!!!
