Guess they dont like new aero's.

That's at least a glimmer of hope that the premiums will drop dramatically!

Did they insist on a Tracker? My frustration about this insistence is that there was a point in time not so long ago when Police Scotland had very few/if any vehicles fitted with the necessary hardware to actually track a Tracker (inside info from my recently retired Traffic Cop brother). I've actually made a FOI-type request to them to provide me with details of how many cars are fitted with it, how many are on the road in a normal shift pattern and how many properly trained operatives are there.

Re trackers....when I worked in our police ops room the tracking companies did the actual tracking initially, updating the ops room. There was a plan to get direct tracking from police cars or by the ops room as part of "going smart" by utilising new digital equipment linked to mapping systems etc but still under the planning stage when I retired 2 years ago. There were trackers in police cars so they could be seen on our mapping with progress showing movements.
One thing that surprises many people is that watching many TV series gives the impression that police can get instantaneous info or location details etc. This is largely artistic license to enable the plots to progress! Yes, a lot can be done but not as easily as the TV/film directors like to portray. Please don't raise your expectations so high as the reality is often less able to achieve due to technology, budgets, etc. ANPR...a great tool that is being expanded. Insurance/Mot/DVLA info...already available. Tracking....in development.

I`m with Headley (Morgan) insurance for both my 4/4 and Fiesta tin top. They have always been competitive and very easy to deal with.
This will be my 6th year with them.

I'm 55+ (just), full no claims bonus, clean licence, no accident history, driving since I was 17, IAM member, car always kept in a fully alarmed garage, etc, etc .... and they want a tracker fitted as a compulsory requirement
Seems a bit OTT!
Any (helpful) suggestions welcomed

I dont know that I can help so much as console. When I bought the Ferrari, 8 years old but much the same cost as a new Aero, I had the same problem needing an agreed valuation and a guarantee that any repair would be in a Ferrari approved body shop. I ended up with a Hiscox High Net worth policy ( There's a joke!) through this broker http://www.aib-insurance.co.uk/ and like you I had to have a tracker. My background is much the same as yours even down to the IAM and the insurance cost is £1000 but the tracker adds £300 so I'll be very interested if you find an alternative. FWIW, other Ferrari owners seem to end up paying the same sort of money.
I did find that I could get as low as £450 though the comparison sites but without agreed value and agreed bodyshop. And of course if the value of the car was around 50 / 60k, it would be a very different matter whereas I guess your new toy has to be around £100k.

I'm the same age with the same claims history (none) and had the same problem... I'm with Liverpool Victoria and paying around £400 for my new Aero +8. PM me if you want my brokers details (he's very good).

Morgan Plus 8 Auto, 2014 model, Agreed value £79,500.
Insured for self and wife, Postcode SP5. Garaged.

No accidents since 2003, then one no fault claim, Excess recovered.
No convictions, clean licence.
Cover is social, domestic and personal business use, no milage limit.

Last year Gott & Wynne charged just under £800. It is due to be renewed in November.

No tracker required and interestingly talking to Tracker HQ in 2014 they advised that it wasn't possible to put a tracker unit in a Traditional Morgan as there was no where secure to put it. The Aero 8 may be different as it has a lockable boot.

I'll pay around £1000 for the Aero S5, as part of a small fleet policy.

It comes with a few policy elements that make that headline cost better value, and should make life a little easier.
...eg any driver over 25 can drive my cars, and I can drive any car, with comprehensive cover across Europe.
...Breakdown recovery, across Europe.
...If one alloy is broken I'm covered for all 4 to be replaced.

You pays your money - just make sure you get good value for what you choose to pay.

Will

Considering my age I appear to have one of the most competitive prices on here!

Rather pointless comparing each other's quotes unless you factor in your post codes!
