A Taffmogger has a campervan and tows his Mog on a trailer. Nice option.
It is tempting.
has seen campers etc but tends to prefer the bigger type. Hence £££££££!
So not a really practical option due to parking space. Also an extra vehicle....Morgan, tintop, camper. Caravan is an option. Maybe in next couple of years.

Going through the same process at the moment. Started off with romantic ideas of camping by lakesides etc. SWMBO was having none of it reminding me of my age and aching bones. Obviously had to then be a campervan.
VW conversions seemed excellent and hold their price really well. Had a look. Hm. As SWMBO pointed out, too cramped and uncomfortable. So we hired a motorhome. Had a whale of a time. Plenty of room to stretch out, comfy bed,, loo and shower and a full kitchen to cook any meal you could want. now looking at old Hymer A class motorhomes - the ones that look like mobile libraries. Comfortable accommodation that holds its price. No idea where it's going to end.

Won't it end on a campsite somewhere?

It must be an age thing. We know several couples who are late onset caravenners/motor homers.

I think the idea of a VW T5 sounds good but the prospect of driving something the size of a Luton van doesn't sound good to me and not in the least bit carefree.

One of my pet hates is the idiots that drive these monster Pinnesago's around towing a mini car sized vehicle around and we get lots of them down here.

As usual, the Memsahib and I have done everything in reverse. We travelled the world on our own but have now discovered package tours. We had Motorhomes and camper vans for years and have now discovered hotels and we had nice comfortable cars and are now on our 3rd Moggie.
For what it's worth, the VW camper van ( must be no later than a T3 for the flat 4 engine) is great for getting places but is very small and you will need a camp site for life's basic needs.
A Motorhome is a little more cumbersome (but not much) and will enable you to use CL's or, where allowed, wild camp with all life's little luxuries so do think very carefully about exactly what you want to do with your time.
The other thing to remember is that usually it's a bloke thing this camping lark, the ladies would much prefer a nice hotel and unless you intend to use the van/'home for most of the year for many years, hotels are a far better deal money wise, but whatever you choose, I wish you the very best of luck.

It can be justified, but you must get loads and loads of use out of them - otherwise you are paying more than 5**** hotel prices for the privilege of having a s**t in a bucket in a field.

Now that's the fly in the ointment! Campsites! Don't really get on with them if I'm honest.
