One if the perks of a holiday is MrsW doesn't have to cook and I don't have to wash up.
Now that's bliss.
Quite a few camper vans today were towing cars, but none of the cars were interesting, except maybe a Smart.

Wow what a plethora of response, thanks to those that sent valuable advice rather than 'ooh not for me, I'd miss my chocolate on my pillow at night'.....I think Stringers Best Mate sums up the attraction with his description of sitting in the chucking rain on the Western isles...perfect.

Have to admit I and swmbo prefer a good inn with real ale, decent wine and food.
However, I can see the attraction of throwing a few things in a camper and heading for the hills / lakes / decent scenery.
If you are contemplating converting a van yourself and re-registering it as a camper be aware that DVLA will now ask for proof that it looks like a camper (i.e. photos) - allegedly to assist the forces of law and order... smile

Best not to even look at caravans. Caravaners are out to radicalise as many people as they can. We nearly got caught up in it once ourselves - so lucky to have escaped. They start off talking about the benefits and how friendly it all is to try and lure you into a caravan site. Next thing it's 'would you like to come to our caravan for a drink?' And before you know it you're in a circle of caravaners, naked, throwing a beach ball to each other! Keep well clear!

The Top Gear episode on caravans (It's not a pan-fire it's a van-fire!) is my favourite piece of motoring hilarity.

Do you mean the episode where they hoiked up two caravans from two cranes and played conkers with them?

Sirs & Madams,

I must protest at these derogatory postings and thoughts regarding caravans.

I am a caravanner myself and I fully endorse the camaraderie of caravanners in general. We try to help each other; spend most of the time on holiday in Britain therefore not spending money abroad; conserve wild life and places as much as we can and lastly, sensible and decent caravanners will give way if they see a line of "ducklings" behind them.

Angry of Ruislip.

Best Regards

Just had a thought.......
Does a campervan need to be coloured pink and have frilly curtains?
Does the exhaust smell of sweet smelling petrol or diesel additive perfume?
Does the van swing both ways on bendy roads?
Does the exhaust have a high pitched note?
hide hippy
Or does it have a deep throaty growl from a V8?
Go faster stripes?
Custom paint with aggressive/goth/horror style paintwork?

Only kidding....
posted this to test some connection issues to TM
Honest... thumbs

No it's the one where they tow a caravan to Dorset for a holiday. May does the reversing, Hammond gets lured into a van by a lady with a large poodle and Clarkson fries chips with explosive results. This is a link to an edited version but the unabridged is the one to watch.

And James May's airship caravanning piece is a delight as well.

Hi Kerry!
Are you back home from the island?
Or did you trade in your Mog for a Campervan to stay there?

Plenty Campers of all sizes and shapes out this weekend, great to see all the families having fun and running free.
