The local TV shop owner had a Gilbern Invader Estate in the early seventies, which corrupted my mind as I had to have one. I did that in 1990, and got it out of my system.
If I have a bit of spare time in the mornings, I can vary my route to work so that I go past the site where Gilberns used to be made ( Did you know that LLantwit Fardre was the centre of the World's automotive industry!)
There was a nice obituary in the 'Western Mail' a couple of weeks ago, on BERNard Friese ( GILes Smith, the other half of the partnership was a well known local butcher famous for his sausages)
