Blancpain Villeret Ultra-Slim on my wrist. Black alligator strap, plain white dial, hours, minutes, seconds and date - plain and simple.
A watch few people would ever give a second glance at - just the way I like it. The oldest watch brand (est. 1735), Swiss hand built only building mechanical watches (no quartz) in the time honoured tradition........... they're a bit like Morgan really!! :-)
Rob Good things come to those who wait but they've usually been left by those who got there first!

I wear a watch to tell the time: normally a Seiko and i don't expect to pay more than £200. If it dies I buy a new one. My next one may well be this Seiko Pilot for £169. I do like the IWC Pilots watch but £3500? Really? I'd rather buy a new set of wheels for Tarka....

£3500 would buy me a David Gilmour replica Black Stratocaster from the Fender custom shop. Come to think of it, I can see a bit of man-maths coming on: Money saved by not buying a flashy watch + money saved by not buying any more wheels > cost of Strat, therefore... I just need to not find out I don't actually need a new watch or a new set of wheels

Jay, Tim,
buying a set of 18" Speedster wheels would allow me to fit winter tyres, there are no winter tyres I've found that fit the 19" Aeromax wheels I have.
I have discovered that the Plus 8, if used through the winter, really could use winter tyres, especially at the back!!!!!

Much more useful Peter. Having just had my Omega Seamaster serviced at the factory, it now loses about five minutes a week. Ok, they tarted up the watch so it looks like new but I could have bought a decent Japanese watch for less than the service cost and it would keep perfect time. Bloody male jewellery.

£3500 would also buy you a reasonable 4x4, saving the +8 from the ravages of road salt...

JLC Reverso Duo for me. I don't wear it all the time however as I would not like to risk damage given the cost of servicing and spares etc as you outline. Laco self winder or an Apple Watch for day to day. http://www.gnomonwatches.com/flieger-used-look-miyota-42mm-type-a-d-sseldorfYou have to ask about the long term value of all the new computer-watches as well. Batteries going, CPU and other failures. Feels like a boom industry with a short life until they can make it the computer. I guess moores law will cause it to happen at some point !
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
