Hello.

Has anyone installed a K and N air-filter to a Sigma 4/4? I'm assuming the air-box is a standard Ford item so wondered what panel filter I'd need to order - ie Fiesta or Focus. Or the K and n part number?

Thankyou

Yes I put the K&N into the standard box. Part no. KN33-2877 - about £30 from Demon Tweeks. Does help it.

Others will have the right information, what I can say, just have a look at your paper filter. If it is original it will show a FoMoCo number. But it will work also if you have the type number of a third party supplier like Mann which is printed on as well. Then it is easy to identify the K&N equivalent with the help of google or your high street parts shop.
I would guess you will have a win at the higher rev area. But I hesitate a bit to try it because some of the MAF sensor types don't like micro oil drops.

Keep us updated with your experiences after you have fit the K&N replacement.

No worries Heinz! Mine loved the replacement. Along with the side exit it meant for about £100 the difference in noise and performance was a big positive.

So I will give the K&N a try as well. One reason is also that especially the sigma paper air filter gets dirty very soon at the area of the air inlet. The K&N just has to be cleaned and sprayed again for a lot of times.

This thread has just reminded me to check about cleaning my K&N filter which I've had in just over a year and about 5 thousand miles ago

Just looked on the website and it states that it probably doesn't need cleaning until around 25 thousand miles

Oh well, one less job to do

Stewart, nevertheless I would give it a try to clean it. On my Lotus it was so incredibly dirty after a year (ok, there it is mounted in front of the rear wheel behind the side intake which may suck more of the dirt). And in that case it is an open cone filter.
Just use the original K&N cleaner and respray it with the original oil (sorry when I tell things you already know very well).
