LED 3rd brake light
Thought this was a really good upgrade and a perfect fit. Its designed for a defender so is a sealed waterproof unit, about 4 times as bright (always good for safety) and is fully E marked for European roads, unlike putting an led bulb in.
Not a bad upgrade for £16.49 delivered and 3 minutes fitting!
Its an 'RDX' make on ebay if anyone is interested and is available red as mine is or clear.

Anything to light up the back when braking has to be a good thing when you are in a small car, nice addition!!

Fitted as standard on my 98 plus8 not sure how long they were the answer to a legal requirement, always thought it looks ugly but offers peace of mind that higher vehicles have the sight of a lower car.

Ah. I see. It's to replace the existing lens unit.

I've caused a bit of confusion here. Its the lamp unit I've changed see link; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321597742337?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Its a direct fit in place of the bulb unit and fits using the same screw holes

Quick link HERE I actually had a look after seeing yours. Looks a good move and good VFM if it's brighter, but how many wires & what is the connector, Tom? It looks like it's a stop/tail thing, so I'd guess at three, but isn't the cobra light fitting two? Haven't looked at mine..

Thats it, cheers Steve 3 wires at the back of the unit and yes only 2 on the car, but leave the other with a heat shrink over as not required . I just put 2 new crimp connectors on and job was done easy as that. No reason you couldnt wire it as a tail lamp as well as stop now though and would be simply connecting a feed as thats what the unit is designed for.

The stop/tail thing crossed my mind, too..
Nice one, Tom. Worth a punt, I reckon.
