What leather is attached with velcro??

If you look at your cockpit you can see two strip of leather just under the upper edge of the bodywork. It happens the same to my ex side mirrors but I just swap with some other type. In my 3W to unscrew the side mirrors wasn't necessary to remove the leather.

I notice early M3Ws have bullet style mirrors without stalks. I like the look of these and assume they are less susceptible to vibration and loosening. does anyone have experience of these? Can you actually see anything behind?

Hi Glenn, the 3W prototype had my same side mirror in black. I bought mine from Melvyn Rutter. Mine are aluminum version because my 3W has the chrome pack but you can easily make it black.

If you have the Fairbourne screen Its not a big job to mount a centre mirror on it as Richard Wood had done. Personally with standard mirrors I have not felt a need for one Tim

One thing I will say Glenn. You don't appreciate how much blurring you get from vibration with originals until you fit ones with a shorter stem. You do need central mirror then to compensate for limited view from drivers side mirror which varies according to how much clothing on your right arm. ETA: the central mirror (Melvyn Rutter) can be mounted to full screen if you have Fairbourne or MMC one. Otherwise body mounted between screens as in Australian version.
