My wife has just got a brand new Leon ST and even though I'm on the insurance, I have absolutely no wish to drive it just to see what's it's like

Because it will drive like a ... dull car

Years ago I loved driving other cars and I used to love swapping cars with my salesmen just see what they were like

Now, new cars are as about as exciting to me as buying a new washing machine

Somehow the tag line 'The ultimate driving machine' and BMW seem a bit of a misnomer now. Likewise there's a grew BMW sitting in our drive and it goes around the corner to the Turkish car wash to have a fiver lavished on it every so many weeks.

I thought it was only me.

My current daily drive is an E class coupe. It does everything I want and it's totally boring. My previous BMW was even less interesting.

I can't get excited over any new car (that I could afford) and I'm seriously thinking of getting a "modern classic" as my daily use car.

Something like a 900 Saab turbo perhaps.

My Golf gets limited use because it's not as much fun as the Morgan. Even MrsW thinks that. In fact her Polo is a better drive than the Golf. Nowhere near as quick, but with the 'rorty' 3 cyl diesel and a bit quirky on the handling & ride.

Congratulations. A quintuple Nelson - you don't see one of them every day.

Mind you the Brough Superior SS 100, MG TC and Jowett Javelin (in that order as the family grew) were all pretty interesting vehicles.

Yes, well, my pop did have a 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp and an Alvis TC21, but I wasn't referring to them. It was the everyday cars I was thinking of.

My little Fiesta ST is huge amounts of fun, I love both my cars and my bike for different reasons and different uses.

At present I have a limited choice of daily drivers as I need something that will tow a 3T horse trailer. As we will not have horses forever (the present 2, all being well, will probably outlast our ability to ride). Some time in the next few years I will no longer need the Disco. Whilst this is a while away, occasionally thoughts turn to the car I would choose if budget was the only constraint. Looking around me whilst driving around there is nothing to inspire. Most recent thoughts have ranged from a Mini Cooper S through a Jaguar XE and on to a BMW Z Coupe via a Fiat Panda. As things stand, it is good that I need the tow car since, as others have said, there really is very little to inspire in modern cars on today's roads.
