Well the end is nigh.....Morgan Australia is calling for any 3 Wheeler orders to be placed before the end of year. Due to a change in Australian Design Rules the 3 Wheeler will no longer be compliant, and unable to be registered in Australia before its arrival later on in 2017. Makes me glad to have got mine, i wonder if there will be a rush or will it just fade away ? Mark Tas M3W

The Suzuki Jimny Jeep is also unable to be imported into Australia from early 2017 due to lack of side air bags. There appear to changes to their regulations from about April 2017. Now the Morgan 3W as well.

What a great shame. It must have cost MMC a packet in R & D to get the M3W originally approved given all the OTT nannying mods. How ever many MMC have sold in Australia/NZ, it seems unlikely they managed to recover their development costs.

The Triumph of the "Nanny State"...pointless regulation just because they can.
They'd ban bikes because they are dangerous if they thought they could get away with it!

MMC have invested a lot of energy in getting over the initial hurdles, so it's sad to read this.

That is very sad. MMC did indeed put a lot of effort into the Aus market - they must be well cheesed off!

I understand that 3 Wheelers have failed due to lack of airbags, to comply without them requires more crash testing. It is also my understanding that classic Morgans, i.e. Plus 4's, 4/4's are also unable to be complianced at the moment in Australia. However this is likely to be rectified shortly according to the dealer. Has anybody tried to order one recently ? The only Morgan you CAN order at present is an Aero....I don't think Morgan has lost money on the 3 Wheeler, all development costs have been passed onto the customers......hopefully they don't depreciate much.

That is a shame to see that but perhaps it means those in the country will hold their value very well, not that anybody who has one probably wants to sell theirs.

Very sad since the investment made by those who tried to make it happen. I saw the development car and lots of work went in to this.....
