Yes I have used Carole Nash for my bike but am currently with Bennetts who are giving me the best deal (at the moment).

Indeed - a perpetual frustration.

One detail - is the cover you have for the Morgan agreed value?

Paul, agreed value is for older classics, my cover is for market value and if you have been watching prices you will see that cars of our vintage are rising in price so I see no benefit in agreed value (hopefully).

A lot depends on the definition of market value. Our 3 year old car is now on an agreed value policy valued at £3k more than we paid for it - which should cover a like for like replacement should the worst happen. If your insurer uses trade valuations then you could be disappointed. This is my logic for agreed value on our car. Unlimited mileage cover through Headley is reasonably priced too.

I had the same with Admiral - big raise in the price at the end of year 1 for our multi-car. I was told a load of old clap-trap.

Raise in Insurance Premium Tax
General raise in premiums

I went to Churchill who proved to be terrible and I will be leaving them at the end of the year.

One thing to watch with all the big providers now is the addition of hidden charges that are being added all over the place to raise money.

Change car sir ? £50
Change job sir ? £50 and possible changes
Change registration plate on car sir ? £50
Sell car sir ? £50

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Most insurers these days make you an offer based on market price and say if you don't agree send us 3 adverts showing the a price.

I cannot temember getting a renwal quote that drops. Every one is hiked up and these can be queried/negotiated in most cases. Every renewal a search for quotes is done and this can be used to negotiate.
I remember being with Swinton once. I had their renewal papers for the Focus. I went online and saw the same Swinton cover £100 less! I queried this by phone and got a £100 cashback. Stayed with them for another year but went elsewhere after that.
Renewals seem to be a "try it on" tactic in the hope that people just accept it.
I have the Plus 8 with Gott & Wynn renewal due next month. I will look at others as part of the "game".

Hi all
Can anyone recommend an insurer for a non resident ?
ie Car is in the UK for when I visit and I reside offshore, this seems to be a problem for some reason.

For years with Tesco I got the renewal then went online for a better deal. In the end though when we changed cars mid term & they put the price up as it was to be garaged not on the drive I left them. Apparently it is easier to steal a car from a locked alarmed garage!

Now I am a price whore 3 times a year for each of the cars. Painful but saves dosh.

Just changed insurers for the BMW - and save £200 for a better policy.

Sadly it pays to shop around.

Can you not use the address of the storage unit as your UK address ?
