Dave watch out I will have to buy you a beer have spent a lot of time and cash hunting a place down . Also been up Aberdeen many time hence part of the expense. Every time no one has heard of the place driven over fields etc . I have spotted it and now intend to go looking again for photos . Its an old farm house ggg grandfather was in . Been thinking a while now mam is gone and I have time on my hands I can return to doing my f/tree started late 70s . Due to the years I stopped I have got a clear mind and my great gran maiden side has given me problems . Born out of wedlock but has a father take her down the isle . I am about to hunt them down I spotted a clue I have missed to much on my mind . So if I dont pop up as much probably digging up some bones for further proof or leaving my mobile by a grave in the hope I get a call to fill in details.

I am a bit of an Ogilvist, that is I like to follow the roads of John Ogilvy mapped out in 1675 and made into a book, when I was a kid my parents were given the road from York to Lancaster and although we lived quite near the route I always wanted to follow this road but only did years later.

After that I picked up other odd information and compared this with old OS maps on here
www.npemap.org.uk
This is because 1675 was before all the turnpike building but there are some great roads such as the escape from Bristol to Exeter which goes great until you reach the flooded section under the Chew Valley Lake, so go round that and back on course.

There are many examples and they are great country run roads, I print off the old OS map, mark the Ogilvy route as best I can and head off for a drive.

Enjoy guys and gals

I prefer maps to plan routes then switch to satnav for detail near dstinatipns.
Early this year I bout a 2017 atlas in a services.
I sorted a short run on a weekend away not long after but told the others...
This is next years atlas so some roads may not exist yet".
smile
When doing some work for Mori I used satnav to find some of the put of the way addresses in very rural areas. For some reason they gave these to me..along with some in rougher areas of towns.
