That's a really odd solution. I've just checked my Plus 4 and the dimmer is under the dash on the extreme right let into one of those "cardboard" (fibre) trim panels.

On mine it is under the dash on the off side of the steering wheel. It is fitted to the plastic under dash trim.

I had a little rummage behind the right hand corner of the dashboard and lo and behold, there is was. I would never have found it without some help. It works fine and will turn the dash lights right off if required. The next job is to drill a little hole in the side of the ali. dash panel just under the cowl and fix it so I can use it whilst driving.

Thanks again Dave, it just shows there is no such thing as a silly question, and hopefully other ARP4 owners who haven't found it yet will benefit too.

It's simply crazy to think it's a deliberate omission..

Of course it's not a deliberate omission. You can just imagine the thought process in the assembly shop: the drilling of a hole was not shown on the plans so I will just leave it for someone else to worry about.

I'm pleased you found the dimmer control, I wonder what other 'goodies' are hidden in there?!

Merry Christmas

Yes, as they were only making 50 of them, someone thought it wouldn't matter if the dimmer control was left dangling in mid air behind the dashboard.

Anyway, with some difficulty, because I had to drill at an angle under the steering column cowl, I have now fitted mine into a suitable place where it can be reached whilst on the move. It felt just like old times, when I used to build Caterham Sevens.

When I retire, soon, I wonder if it will qualify me for a part time job with MMC?
