If...
...all the water on Earth was made into a ball and plonked onto N. America… (Image: Jack Cook, Adam Nieman, WHOI, Howard Perlman, USGS) I thought this very surprising...It comes from QI on Twitter but references the US Geological Survey. Orginal Twitter Link

What I find particularly interesting is that this ball of water represents all the water in on, under and above the Earth and would form a sphere about 850 miles across.
But the ball of water that represents all the fresh water that is available to support all life on the planet surface (not in the oceans, obviously) would form a sphere only 35 miles across. In the picture above it would be a barely visible dot.

I think that ball of water should be shown over North West Britain
It would be much more realistic

So that must be the size of the comet which brought water and life to earth.
If you can believe the boffin analysts.
I wonder if they included all the water trapped inside life and in fridges.
And cooling systems.

I thought David Attenborough did 'Life in the Freezer'..? He had polar bears in his, so I'd be worried under that ball. Of course, polar bears don't like penguins do they..? Can't get the wrappers off apparently.. (This may be a very English joke as I'm not sure if Penguin biscuits are branded word wide. Sorry..) That comparison ball seems very small considering the size, area & depth of the oceans, though. I'd probably sit and crunch some numbers but I'd rather clean wire wheels than do that..
