I had a friend with big Merc and in snow it wouldn't move off the drive, a slight incline. The power was cut when the wheels spun With traction off the wheels just spun. Useless modern car...................... Get a go anywhere MGB....

Turn the traction control (and any other assistance) OFF... Tried that Graham, it was still useless

Get snow tyres for a Merc That's what said John. Mind you, she wouldn't go out in her RWD Porsche. I'll have to investigate them for low profiles, the wheels are £500 a corner (without tyres) so would want to avoid having spare wheels for the couple of days a year (if that) we get snow.

I don't know what it is about Mercedes but they are as much use as a chocolate teapot in the slightest bit of snow, it can't just be that they're rear wheel drive and heavy, can it?
Best 2WD car I ever drove in snow/ice conditions was my aged Citroen 2CV. Low power, narrow tyres and compliant suspension. However, tlLB's Fiat Panda is fairly impressive in the snow, albeit we have not had much down here in recent years. Beware wide tyres and too much power. 2cv also brilliant at not aquaplaning when you hit water.....

Photo taken yesterday in the East Midlands and sent to me via an old mate at Suzuki. You need to be both competent, confident and be wearing your thermals. No.To ride a motorcycle on snow like that you need to be stupid IMO. No other way of describing it

He is well known to anyone who follows motorcycle sport and the industry. Extremely successful and a really nice guy.
