I cannot stop thinking about fitting a tuned 4.6 in my +8, has anyone else tuned theirs up? If so by how much, and how do you feel about it? I'm currently thinking of 290-300bhp, but feel it could be a little over the top... how does 250 feel in a Morgan?
I won't be racing it, but would like to do a few track days each year, other than that, I do like plenty in reserve!

Why don't you phone some of the mog dealers and ask if you can have a go at one before you splash out ie. Richard Thorne springs to mind but there are others also.

Had a 4.5 L in my Tvr seac .Shortened trumpets , bigger manifolds , bigger exhaust , side exits , different air flow meter adjusted by laptop gives much smoother no shunt drive , bigger air inlet , talk to Tvr power Coventry .http://www.powersperformance.co.uk/

Don't forget you need a bigger radiator, better brakes, handling improvements, etc to go along with the higher performance.
I'm more than happy to advise having built more than a few racing Morgans

From my experience I preferred a tuned 3.9 over the 4.6.

Simon @ SiFab.co.uk Of course! I already have a larger rad, and will be fitting panhard rods, anti-trap bars and 300mm front discs with 4 piston calipers. I have been looking at the Mulfab website, but welcome your advice

From my experience I preferred a tuned 3.9 over the 4.6. I had thought about that as I like revy engines, but for road use, I thought the extra torque from a 4.6 would be more suitable. What do you prefer about the 3.9?

When I switched from a 3.5 to a stock Morgan/Rover 3.9 it was not HP I noticed. But the expanded RPM range. For the first time I could use 3rd gear and leave it in 3rd while I drove the steep, twisty, back roads of Northern California. The 3.73 rear axle ratio I had helped a lot. I have driven a Corvette powered +8+ quite a lot. I don't think it is HP that is the big player. But the right gear ratios for Your driving style I think are paramount. My RPM range is 1,500 to 5,500 RPM with a stock 3.9 and an Edelbrock Carb. Simon probably could tell Me how to get a larger power range.

What do you prefer about the 3.9? Even though it was a TVR modified 4.6, it had a very heavy crankshaft which gave good torque but it didnt rev as well or sound as good as the 3.9.
