Nice salt free roads today so after a fortnights Morgan fasting due to salt a nice run to Torcross and back. Well the civil engineering works down there on the sea defences has really escalated they appear to be excavating massive trenches out parallel to the esplanade ready to fill with gigantic boulders. Lets hope it works for the concerned residents. http://www.kingsbridge-today.co.uk/artic...searchyear=2016

At least they are spending the money, but Torcross must be on borrowed time. We were there soon after the road was breached a few (many?) years ago, and even last April they were hard at work. The beach has changed significantly in the last 40 years, and now is much lower, in fact the top of the steel piling was visible in front of the village last April, after a window breaking night of high tide and wind. Most of the shingle has gone elsewhere and now its coarse sand, which I suspect doesn't absorb the pounding as well as shingle.
You are very lucky being able to drive that route when you like Richard.....................................

The feeling down here is that the sea will eventually take it all back again in the not too distant future.
The Ley itself was saltwater going back a few hundred years with no metalled road at all along the Line. My experience of the sea is that it always wins all it's battles lets just hope it's not for a while so everybody can enjoy this captivating and historically important bit of coastline. They always blame the moving of the gravel to build Plymouth Dockyard but I think the saline Ley predates this although I'm sure it must be a contributory factor.
Yes I do realise how lucky we are Dave, hopefully it won't be too long before you are enjoying it as well.
p.s. They have just sold Hannafords for redevelopement.

We might get over there around Valentines day. I'm planning on walking both ways from Dartmouth but as its close to 20 miles it might be better left until April. We'll see how the weather pans out - there's always the bus one way. Free now we both have a bus pass.

That sounds good we really must get in gear and send our forms off, get the photos done if I'm honest. I think a trip on the open air bus to Plymouth could be interesting and one we have promised ourselves.

I remember riding the 12C open topper from Torquay to Kingswear when I was young. It was full, and as we left Churston the heavens opened. No chance of going downstairs so we huddled under our macs and got soaked. Good grounding for Morgan ownership! My Grandma was not amused. At least the seats were PVC upstairs.

Warning heeded..
The last open topper we were on was in Bath when No1 daughter was at Uni there - a great tour and you could jump on and off wherever you wanted and get on a subsequent one, that could be quite normal I'm not a bus person yet !

Lovely trip out to Buckfastleigh and Dartington Hall this afternoon in the sunshine - a couple of topless MX5's and a couple of German topless that's it.

Below zero down here in South Wiltshire, so Tarka stays in the warmth.
When it is warm it is wet, when it is cold it is bright and the sky is blue.
So frustrating!
