I think Howard is as close to converting as he's ever been.

But the water looks cold...........

My old (2002 +8) came here last year for some work on it with its then owner prior to selling it (its gone to a friend so I will see it again) and as he drove down the road at the end of the day a wind chill must have caught my one eye......

Lovely cars, I really rate my current +4 as the best Morgan I have owned but that +8 is special.

So why would all you Plus 8 owners rate them above the Ford V6 cars which have at least as many BHP?

I wasnt aware that there was such a thing as a long door car. How do you know which is which apart from by using a tape measure - does it depend on year of build?
Same with the 14CUX injection. To me analogue cars are those without a data network ie canbus. I would be happy with a fuel injection system I could plug into a lappy and play with.

Long door cars came in in the autumn of '97 Howard. The easiest way to tell is by the windscreen demist - does it have air vents in the dash top, or wires running through the screen...
At the same time as long doors, stainless bulkhead and inner wings became standard fit.
If Canbus is your deciding factor all trad +8 (i.e. not ally Aero chassis) will apply...

And in 1997 came the bulkhead roll bar and the Salisbury axle was replaced with an Australian BTR.

You need to read "Chapter 1 - Buying a Modern Traditional Morgan" in my book, Howard, and based on current progress it might be published before you decide.

Here's a taster:

.............compare the distance between the trailing edge of the door and the beading where the rear wing meets the body between cars, and the long door/shorter gap is obvious. Longer doors make entry and egress easier, so if you are taller, then a long door car may be the better option for you. Remember also that two different door lengths results in two sets of side-screen dimensions, and the side-screen shape and seal design has evolved over time. This is yet one more reason why Morgans can look so different from each other........................

Howard, it is very interesting to see your approaches to become a Morgan owner or at least a Morgan driver. It reminds me somehow of the doubting Thomas. The difference is, you could have the proof soon. Just kidding a bit.

I reckon the Rover v8 is high up there as one of the most characterful engines in Britain , and there are still loads of cars around with that engine .
