Andy,
Like Graham, I've got a set of John Wozza's bonnet stays. I found them really easy to fit and the locators/ resting brackets do bolt straight on to the bonnet catch receivers. The only thing I did was to file off the upper ends of the stays so that the diameter was reduced and they now locate into the bonnet catch springs
They work very well

Deal done, thanks Graham.
Looking forward to some light DIY. I had a set of these on my previous +8, they were notable in that the top end did not really have anywhere to locate, I will look at doing some filing.

Re the filing. I had this concern that I would end up with two stays with ends of different shapes/profile, so I used engineer's blue to mark the ends before I started.
Typical pedantic me I guess- but it worked out very well

looks more trouble than its worth Frank, I'd bin it Never been known to walk away from a challenge  Urumph!  I finally fitted the Stays. Not to Dave W standard but for me, a good enough improvement which can always be improved later.  The Hinge end is as supplied. Fitted easily as the nut stays in place when the screw is removed.  I did not want to trust the adhesive foam supplied so fabricated these little plates from a pre hole piece of stainless. I then Pop riveted the clip in place first. I almost caused some difficulty for myself when I realised that the nut on this screw was loose and I would not be able to replace it easily if I did not have the benefit of the Keyhole in my plate. Also a long reach 'T' screwdriver with magnetic end, made for me years ago by an uncle, allowed me to get a box spanner onto the nut end while fastening the inside screw. That was lucky.  The compromise - to obtain suckers without hole through - I found a cheap 'bow and arrow kit'. The sucker and plastic arrows were oversized for the rod and glued together so misshapen. I have had to increase the rod size using plastic tape and the also glue on the suckers.  The finished rod clipped in place.  The Stay in place with sucker easily attached and nice and secure. Well! I'm happy

I've mackled-up my own bonnet stays, using lengths of 4mm s/steel rod (well, the bonnet is very light after all). The pictures hopefully show the fixing arrangements I've adopted, with the top end of the stay turned through 90 degrees so that it lodges quite securely behind the catch spring.  I drilled (I know - but it's only the bracket!!) & grommeted the rear bonnet bracket to mount the stay,  and I've used self-adhesive plastic decorating clips mounted on the forward bonnet brackets to hold the stays in place, which have proved very reliable over the 5 months they've been in place.  Total cost for the whole job was about £12.00. A Bargain!
