They are key locked. A single key unlocks the pannier and also allows it to be removed from the rack. It is not possible to remove the key from the lock in the unlocked position - so no danger of leaving them on the rack unlocked.
Tempting fate? What could possibly go wrong now ....

Load them onto Photobucket or similar (I use a free account just for sharing on TM and similar). Then use the button 4th from left in the posting menu (looks like a palette) to insert the link to the photo (which Photobucket gives you when you view the picture). Just be careful to ensure that the http//: string is only there once.

Extremely neat solution. We travel with an old Samsonite (covered in the waterproof picnic rug) and held on with webbing straps.
That was our solution last year. Got fed up with lugging a 26kg case up stairs in French guest houses and with the 20 minutes strapping on process. I also think I have eliminated the need for an extra brake light strapped to the case.
