Can anyone help with info regarding wire wheels please? I would like to know how to measure the wheels/hubs to compare s/h wheels with my own. I have 60 spoke 15 inch wires on my 1961 +4 and they have been knocked about a bit. Can anyone explain which part is 42mm and which part is curly?
I am currently looking at a set taken off a 1990 4/4 and unsure if they will fit.

A bit of research tells me that I should measure the hubs accross the splines, 62mm in my case. Still don't know which bit is curly though.

No, I'm not sure what is meant by the term 'curly'. Maybe the inner flange? These guys supply the current range, and there's a lot of info on the site. Or maybe give them a call? MWS

The later wheels were 72 spoke, but the splines should be the same. PS no idea what the curly bit is.

My 59 plus 4 has later 72 spoke chrome wires. It was dispatched from the works with wires, presumably 60 spoke painted.

I would imagine the curly bit refers to the shape of the centre hub, often an S shape , but not sure which spec you need.

I don't think there was any difference in the Rudge type splined hubs used by Morgan. The stub axle sizes changed, but that doesn't affect the wheel hubs.
I reckon a set of modern 72-spoke wheels will be a direct replacement for a set of 60-spoke jobs - always assuming that the rim widths are similar.
I believe 1961 +4s would have had 5" rims, so the only ting that might cause an issue would be if the '91 car was a 'wideline' with 5.5" rims - and the balance of probabilities suggests probably not.

The original 60 spokes are fitted with 5.60 x 15 tyres and the 1990 72 spokes ones I am considering buying have 165/80 x 15 which I think means the rims are the same width.
Am I right?

You need the "J" number from the wheel rim.
