This month`s MOG mag. has 3 pages about Claymills sewage pumping station.A select bunch of TMers is going there on Sunday 26th for the first public steaming of the newly restored Beam Engine B - C&D are already working in addition to about 20 other steam engines.
I`m booked to take a Church service in the Morning - but will be there by noon.
Anyone else interested in going who hasn`t let me know - PM me - or just turn up.
We park by the boiler houses if you have a Morgan - not in the public car park. Entry £6 for adults and £5 for old gits like me.

In my working life I spent a lot of time in sewage treatment works, combined with the steam from other sources, one might say a perfect day out.

Bit far for a short day out. Shame. There are a number of places like this dotted round the country. I really need to look for a couple near-ish each other for a long day out. On a similar theme, this place is similar but for diesel engines. www.internalfire.com.Worth a visit if in the area.

I should have pointed out that this is a Victorian Sewage Pumping Station and as Victorian sewage is no longer available there is no longer any of the brown stuff around. So much so that you could probably eat your dinner off most of the floors. Plenty of steam, plenty of machinery and a great day out for anyone with an eye for craftsmanship and ingenuity (or should that be "enginuity?!).

That's one I definitely wish to visit Philip. They have some ex-marine radio equipment, much as I used to work with. Have bookmarked the site for longer perusal later
